Sharon Reder |
Sharon was born in Indiana and has lived in many states in the U.S. from
the West Coast to the East Coast. She loved to draw as a child and used art to
illustrate college papers during Nursing studies. She completed a number of
college art courses at Diablo Valley College in California while raising four
children and working as a nurse and nurse educator.
Sharon and her husband chose South Carolina for retirement. She has studied with
area artists Bruce Chandler, Betsy McDonald, and Alex Powers. She loves the
ocean, beach, marsh, rivers, wildlife, botanicals, and various cultures that are
so vivid in the low country; and she uses them in her paintings. Her chosen art
mediums are oil or watercolor but she also enjoys acrylic, collage, and colored
pencil.
She has paintings displayed at Island Art Gallery in Pawleys Island and
Applewood Restaurant in Litchfield, and intermittently at Provost Gallery at the
Rice Museum in Georgetown . She has won awards in area judged art shows and is a
member of Georgetown County Watercolor Society, South Carolina Watermedia
Society, and Seacoast Artist Guild.
