Mikki Huss has always loved drawing and painting. From the minute she received
her first oil painting set, she has enjoyed creating paintings of things that
catch her eye.
After high school, she worked as a commercial artist at Zippo Lighters. The job
experience was so fun, it ruined her for any other jobs that followed!
About 7 years ago, Mikki started taking workshops and classes and got more
involved in painting again.
Mikki enjoys oil painting, especially children and people, but also enjoys
seascapes and marsh scenes. "I like painting people doing things they like,
looking casual and happy, not posed. I think it captures who they are. "
Mikki and her husband, Joe, divide their time between Kirtland, Ohio and
Surfside, South Carolina, although Mikki is ready to move here permanently. "I
feel much more creative while I'm in South Carolina"
The Huss' have two grown children and four grandchildren. Her daughter lives in
Pawleys Island with her family, and her son presently lives in China with his
family.
