Cathy Turner

A native of Michigan, I moved to South Carolina in 1989. Although I studied Art appreciation I never picked up a brush until past 30. Raising a family and a hectic career in Real Estate for over 20 years, I painted on and off primarily for family, friends, and several commissioned pieces. In 1998 I was invited to join The Georgetown Art Gallery and Island Art Gallery in 2009. As an extensive traveler, I feel blessed to be surrounded by some of the most awesome scenery in the world.

Living on the marsh in Pawleys Island inspired a love of the low country landscape, the ocean, and the abundant and beautiful marsh birds.  A favorite subject is the Grayman Ghost of Pawleys Island. Many locals reported seeing the Grayman “ghost” before a hurricane and frequently asked for a commissioned painting as a good luck charm for their beach homes. These paintings have become a favorite keepsake for tourists visiting our beautiful beaches here in Litchfield/Pawleys. Although my first love is wildlife I have done commissioned pieces of beloved pets and favorite honeymoon places from photos. I am self taught and learning every day from every brushstroke.
