Carla Schuchman was born in the great state of Texas and moved to Pawleys
Island in 1989. The year and month of Hugo! Her love for art began as a child
and her talent was recognized by her teachers and she was encouraged to pursue
an art career. Carla is self-taught and has established herself as one of the
top decorative and mural painters in South Carolina and has operated from her
business, Masterworks Artistry, LLC for the last 15 years. In the past
several years, her passion for fine canvas painting has been renewed and now
she spends much of her time in her studio creating these works of art.
"I believe that my ability to create works of art are God given and God
blessed. I believe I was given this gift to use for His glory and purpose.
As I walk this wonderful journey, everyday I learn and grow, expressing
myself and sharing my experiences through my work of art and writing. My own
life is often expressed through my paintings. My hope is that my work reaches
down into your heart and inspires you and speaks a Word to you from The Source
of my strength."
Carla is a member of IDAL, Painter and Decorators Association, Georgetown
County Cultural Council. She has appeared in many venues such as South
Carolina Home and Gardens, Builder/Architect, her work has been published in
several decorative art books and magazines and she has worked with the Extreme
Makeover Home Edition team twice.
Carla has been "painting on the porch" at the Island Art Gallery recently and
can be seen working regularly.
